"You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up."

Deuteronomy 6:5-7

February

In February, my parents came to visit. This was the first trip they made to Texas together and it had been a while since we last saw them. It was a short trip but we made the most of it by taking them to the zoo and having some local seafood.

Nathan celebrated his 9th birthday this month. We invited several friends over for pizza making, cake and a pinata. He really enjoyed having all his friends in one place at the same time. I made him a pizza cake with candy toppings.

This month we took a field trip to the symphony and also to the Houston Mounted Police Unit. Both were very interesting and the boys and I really enjoyed them.

This is a funny one but one day Austin was particularly in need of a nap. My 5 year old doesn't typically nap anymore but he was a hot mess on this occasion. After wailing and protesting "I don't need a nap", five minutes later, I found him like this in his bed.

January

This blog, up until recently, has been an awesome forum for me to chronicle all the precious moments with my family. These are all the moments that I never want to forget. Each year, I compile the posts and pictures and turn them into a yearbook for our family. If, God forbid, there was ever a house fire, I would grab the kids and these yearly books I’ve made from our pictures.  This year in particular, I have failed horribly at updating this blog with our events. So the following posts are my efforts to make up for what has been lacking.

Let me just start with these cuties,

Austin and Evan went bowling for the first time this yea. Did you know they make tiny, baby bowling shoes? They’re adorable. Evan had fun playing until he dropped the ball. After that, he was afraid of it.

Nathan played another season of basketball this year. Soccer is still his favorite but in between seasons, he likes to play basketball too.
